Ghost in the Shell

(above image is the cover of the bilingual version)
Ok, Ghost in the shell, the manga that started a large franchise which influenced the Wachowski brothers when they made the move, "The Matrix". It also happens to be the first manga I bought. I picked up a copy of the bilingual version when I was passing through Japan several years ago.

Plot:
It is the year 2029, the E-brain is a common part of society, there exists a large amount of pure cyborgs, and also those who are part real, part cyborg, a time when hacking doesn't just mean losing access to your computer, but also to your body. It follows the members of the Japanese Public Security Section 9, centering on Major Motoko Kusanagi, and the numerous cases they investigate, including that of the hacker known as the Puppeteer. Starting on March 5th (which is a monday... just in case you were wondering), the team face assassinations, terrorist plots, brainwashing facilities, and a court trail. All the while containing in depth looks at the technoligy used and the philosophy behind the story.

If you plan on buying it I recomend getting the Bilingual version as it is considered a better translation, is good for practising your japanese with, and contains pages that were not included in the darkhorse version.
